KANSAS CITY, Mo - When it comes to saying thanks or paying tribute, a Metro company is earning national recognition for their awards, trophies and plaques. But they do not receive them. They make them. All Star Awards and Ad Specialties is one stop shopping when it comes to honors, recognition and promotional needs.
The family owned business was started 30 years ago by Chuck Vogt. They have four locations around the Metro. Their headquarters is in Midtown and the other three locations are in Northland, Lenexa and Olathe.
All Star said they have something for everyone.
"Anything from a $10 soccer trophy for their kids, all the way up to a $500 custom award for a major corporation in Kansas City, and everything in between," Custom Project manager Doug Ford said.
All Star stocks a large variety of basics, like the standard gold plated trophies and plaques. However, they specialize in unique, custom designs. There are always new trends to follow, but Ford says it is the working relationship with their clients that produces those stand-out awards.
"People looking for more contemporary designs, stainless steel, a lot of crystal, a lot of other different platings, copper, different metals, and kind of putting all of that together,” Ford said.
Their work is all done in house and much of it is made with laser engraving. Their staff, technology and resources have made them the “go to” place for last minute needs. That draws business from all over the country through their website, according to Ford.
"We really pride ourselves on being able to handle any sort of a need, as quickly as our client might need it,” Ford said. “We're getting calls from people in Phoenix needing something in two days, and we say 'Sure, no problem.'"
When there is plenty of time for planning, All Star's design studio is the place to start. There, you can sample some of All Star's best work. Ford says do not let custom fool you. It is affordable, like the memento they created for customers of Stroud’s, when they closed their old restaurant. Ford says they made paperweights out of the restaurant’s old flooring, and laser burned the Stroud’s logo.
