OMAHA, Neb. - It is one thing to have someone break into your car and swipe your stereo. It is quite another for the thief to steal your arm.
But that is what happened to Brian (he didn’t want his last name used) in Omaha.
Brian was at work when someone noticed a problem with his jeep. “They told me a window was down, and I could see through this side of the car that the window was gone. So I unlocked the door and sure enough, stuff was missing out the back seat and the stereo wasn’t there anymore.”
The thief or thieves got away with Brian’s wallet, the stereo, and his gym bag that was loaded with a softball glove, bats, cleats and his prosthetic arm.
Brian doesn’t know how much it will cost to replace the arm. It was given to him by the Shriners years ago.
It frustrates him even more to know the people who took his arm probably have no good use for it, since its only value is to Brian.
“I don’t think they knew what was in the bag,” Brian said. “They probably just grabbed the bag and took off.”
