NEW YORK, NY – A man about to propose to his girlfriend dropped the engagement ring off the Brooklyn Bridge.
“I got on one knee, said will you marry me, opened the box and it just flew out,” said Don Walling, the groom.
Gina Pellicani, Walling’s fiancé, watched the ring wall thru a crack in the bridge’s wooden planks. It landed on a road.
Walling then jumped from the pedestrian walking down onto the bridge’s roadway to retrieve the ring. As Walling searched, people on the walkway above tried to help by shouting directions.
Walling eventually recovered the ring. It is being repaired and restored for the couple’s wedding.
“He’ll never disappoint our daughter, that’s for sure,” said Mary Pellicani, mother of the bride. “He’ll obviously jump off bridges for her.”
