NARITA, JAPAN – Landing Crew at Tokyo International Airport found the frozen body of an unidentified man in the landing gear bay of a flight arriving from New York’s JFK Airport.

The man, described as five feet inches tall, and medium build, is believed to be a stowaway.

Delta Flight 59 from New York landed on Sunday at Narita Airport after travelling for 12 hours at a maximum altitude of 32,800 feet. Temperatures in the landing gear bay are believed to have reached minus 58 degrees Fahrenheit.

The man was wearing only jeans and a long-sleeved shirt and is believed to have died of exposure due to the cold and lack of oxygen.

Investigators at JFK are checking how he may have evaded security.
