Washington, D.C. - The government has announced the recall of 28,000 GE Profile ranges after 47 malfunction reports including 33 fires.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission says the voluntary recall involves two styles of ranges that came in black, white, stainless steel, and bisque.
The ranges were sold between 2002 and 2005.

Consumers can find the model and serial numbers on the left inside corner of the range’s bottom drawer.
The CPSC recall announcement says “consumers should immediately stop using the oven and contact GE for a free repair.”
