SUNSET HILLS, Mo. -- The manager of St. Louis-area Burger King kicked a baby out of his restaurant, apparently because he found the baby's little feet a risk to public health.
Jennifer Frederich stopped to eat at the Burger King when she found out she would not be having it her way. The manager told Frederich she would have to get her food to go because her 6-month-old daughter, Kaylin, wasn’t wearing any shoes.
Frederich says the manager told her it was against the health code.
“I just looked at him and said, 'That’s my daughter. She doesn’t own shoes. She’s only six months old',” said Frederich.
Frederich says she went on to make the case that, “She doesn’t walk, so she’s not touching the ground. There is no reason for her to have shoes on.”
The baffled mother says she tried to accommodate the manager by putting socks on Kaylin, but the manager said that wasn’t enough.
A spokesperson for Burger King says the chain took the company policy "too far" and that the family has been offered a free meal as an apology.
