**Christa's new baby is here!**
Christa Dubill is a mom and wife first, a news anchor second. She says the best thing about anchoring the morning news is that she's half way done with her work day before her son even wakes up for the day.
Christa anchors NBC Action News Today from 5 to 7 each weekday morning and
Kansas City's only 11 am newscast, NBC Action News Midday.
Her roots in
Kansas, Christa grew up in
Independence, a small town a little more than 2 hours South of Kansas City. She graduated from the
University of Kansas where she met her husband, David.
Christa manages the Everyday Parent segment for NBC Action News, the station's commitment to covering news relevant for parents, guardians and caregivers. Every morning on NBC Action News Today and NBC Action News Midday, you can find news pertaining to kids and families. You can see more at
nbcactionnews.com/parent and on
Twitter.
Christa believes being an anchor is about more than just delivering you your news each morning. She believes in helping to make a difference in the community by getting involved. This is why she sits on several boards and committees including:
- Charlie’s Safe Haven Board of Directors - Charlie's Safe Haven will be a demonstration home for parents, grandparents and caregivers to learn about dangers in a typical home, and how to protect children from those dangers. Christa became connected with this organization after reporting on the tragic, local story about Charlie’s death.
- The American Heart Association Board of Directors – Christa is especially involved in the Go Red Campaign which helps women realize the dangers of heart disease and how to live healthier lives for their families.
- Junior League of Kansas City, MO Advisory Board – This organization is near and dear to Christa’s heart because of its commitment to children in our community. Currently, the JL’s mission is childhood literacy. Their next big venture will focus on fitness and health for our community’s children.
